These aren't considered waterproof and cannot be submerged or in places where it will be constantly wet. They can be used outside as long as you weatherproof all the power connections, 120V Rope/Strip/Neon Weatherproofing Kit - Birddog Lighting. Once you weatherproof those connections it becomes an IP65 rated light that can be in the outdoor elements.
