This rope light doesn't come with a switch but the custom cut will come with a standard power cord ready to plug into standard wall outlet. If your outlet is hard wired to a light switch you can control the lights via switch.
This rope light you can only cut at every 19.5 inches so you can't get exactly 10ft but it would be close. It is not battery operated though as it is 120 volt power so it is made to just plug and play into a wall outlet.
